SON OF JOHN & JOHN PARKER:
Son Of John is the moniker of 26 year old Bewdley Folk singer-songwriter & guitarist Jacob Johnson. He started playing guitar & composing his own material at 18 and began to find his own voice soon after. He has drawn influence from the delta blues to traditional folk ballads, but his greatest love is for the songsmiths and singer/songwriters. Performers like John Martyn, Nick Drake, Paul Simon & Martin Simpson. Testing himself initially as a solo performer with just his guitar in hand he began to corral a group of local musicians to his aid and started to form his debut album 2016’s Autumn’s Hymn, a blend of eight original tracks and two English ballads.
He has had the privilege of playing some great venues throughout the Midlands including: The Robin 2, The Marrs Bar, The Kitchen Garden, Katie Fitzgerald & The Globe at Hay to name a few.
More recently he has collaborated with, Double Bassist & one half of folk hip-hop duo Nizlopi, John Parker. John is a stalwart of the singer-songwriter and folk scenes, playing & recording with artists such as, Ed Sheeran, Newton Faulkner, Foy Vance, and many others.
The duo got together at the end of 2017 to record & shoot a live music video as promo material for Johnson. What they left with were a handful of live music videos and a five track live E.P recorded at Fieldgate Studio in Cardiff and mixed at Bewdley’s very own Load Street Studio by James Delin. This debut E.P is a selection of Jacob’s own songs and reworkings of two traditional blues tunes.
