ELEANOR McEVOY   The GIMME SOME WINE TOUR     2019

The New Year sees Chanteuse multi instrumentalist and Raconteur Eleanor McEvoy departing on her new Gimme Some Wine Tour landing in England in April and taking in Ireland Europe and beyond.

After the huge success of her The Thomas Moore Project album, nominated for best Folk Album in The RTE Folk Awards, she moves ever forward with Gimme Some Wine the Tour. The song, recorded and featured on her new Live to Disc album Forgotten Dreams, is very special to herself. Eleanor’s Artistic relationship with Painter Chris Gollon, (once she had purchased his painting Champagne Sheila and once they had met) blossomed with him creating paintings for all of the tracks on her Naked Music Album. Her response to all these works was the song Gimme Some Wine, his response another 23 paintings. Sadly Chris passed away in 2017 but his memory and paintings live on, as does her song.

Eleanor’s shows are intimate special occasions. Alone on stage, voice, guitars, fiddle and piano, she weaves a spell as she carries the audience through items from her 13 album catalogue including ALONE, NAKED MUSIC, THOMAS MOORE, FORGOTTEN DREAMS and including her special takes on the works of other great songwriters and singers

“Ms. McEvoy presents to the listener songs of deep cultured understanding and timeless grace” – Liverpool Sound and Vision

“A lone performer plying a singular trade with considerable élan.” The Irish Times

Dublin-born McEvoy’s originally started out as a session musician, including a long stint with The Irish National Symphony Orchestra and with The Mary Black Band

McEvoy decided to develop her own career, and quickly had the title track on The Woman’s Heart compilation and a U.S. record deal with Geffen Records.

McEvoy was soon touring the world to promote her eponymous debut album for Geffen, which went on to sell 250,000 copies. At the same time, ‘A Woman’s Heart’ entered the Irish charts, selling over 750,000 copies and remains one of Ireland’s biggest selling albums of all-time. These successes established McEvoy as one of Ireland’s biggest stars, launching a career that has since seen her release twelve studio albums and tour the world.

Described by BBC Radio 2 as “one of the few artists who can do no wrong whatsoever”
